Malay man nabbed for hiding 150g heroin in kid's book
Kuala Lumpur, July 23 (ANI): A Malaysian man was taken into custody for trying to smuggle heroin into Australia by hiding it in a kid's story book.
The 56-year-old man had carved a little compartment inside the book and filled it with the drug.
He was nabbed by Australian Customs at the Sydney International Airport after behaving in a suspicious manner.
"After a thorough check of the suspect's baggage, officers found a book with a colourful cover," the New Straits Times Online quoted a Bukit Aman police spokesman as saying.
"When the book was opened, the authorities found a bag of white powder.
"Checks revealed that the powder was heroin. It was sent to a chemical lab for further tests to determine the weight and quality of the heroin," the spokesman added.
The man is expected to be charged with attempting to smuggle drugs and could land in prison for up to 25 years or fined 550,000 Australian dollars if found guilty. (ANI)
