Modi requested that a delegation comprising senior officials from the Australian High Commission and the Indian Foreign Affairs Ministry should visit Gujarat's prominent cities and personally meet worried parents.
"A large number of students from Gujarat are studying in Australia. I met him (PM) and appealed to him to send a delegation of senior officials from the Australian high commission and India's foreign affairs ministry, to prominent cities of Gujarat and hold talks with the guardians of those students (who are in Australia) so that their worries and fears are allayed," said Modi.
Modi also met the Australian High Commissioner John McCarthy, and conveyed the same concerns to him, while extending an invitation to visit Gujarat.
Assuring him of his full cooperation in sending a delegation to Gujarat, McCarthy said Australia was taking strict measures to ensure students' safety Down Under.
