Rawalpindi, Jun.6 (ANI): Terrorists in the guise of police personnel could target high-profile personalities and sensitive installations, especially those of law enforcement agencies in Rawalpindi, a security official has warned.

Addressing a press conference here, City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal, said that intelligence inputs suggest that militants are planning to strike in the city.

"The city police have received a long list of fresh threats of terror strikes from intelligence agencies. It has been indicated that terrorists could wear police uniforms to fool security officials and hit their targets," The Daily Times quoted Iqbal, as saying.

He said security has been beefed up in the city, and police officers were keeping a tight vigil at all entry and exit points of the city to hunt down the terrorists.

"A heavy contingent of police, bomb disposal squads and anti-terrorist force have been positioned in and around 22 installations of law enforcement agencies to avoid any possible terror strike," Iqbal added.

Rawalpindi is considered a high value target by terrorists, because of the presence of some highly sensitive security forces installations, including the Defense Ministry. (ANI)
