IIM-A gets fresh calls from recruiters
Ahmedabad, Jun 4: India's prestigious B-school, Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad which had bleak placements days earlier due to recession is relieved now. The institute has had a hard time placing PGPX students (five are yet to be placed) as very few recruiters approached, with enquiries regarding placements during the three crucial months (Feb-Apr) and the process got prolonged by another couple of months.
Reports suggest that IIM-A is getting calls from recruiters who are interested in placing its students, which indicates that the placements at the campus are getting back on track. Saral Mukherjee the IIM-A placement chairman said, "Between Feb and Apr this year, we had a hard time finding the right recruiters for PGPX students as companies across sectors enforced hiring freeze and inquiries went down to a historic low. IIM-A had not faced such a situation before. The uncertainty is over now as companies have begun approaching the institute with inquiries regarding placement."
Unlike the PGP students, the PGPX ones join the campus after spending several years working in a particular domain and are highly selective in terms of their roles, responsibilities and location. The institute arranges for a rolling placement for such students as it involves heavy negotiations unlike PGP. IIM-A hopes that the five students who are yet to be placed will now get the companies of their choice, as fresh calls from recruiters are coming.
