Budget of Maharashtra to be tabled today

Mumbai, June 4 (ANI): The budget of Maharashtra for fiscal 2009-10 will be tabled in both the houses of the State Legislature today.

State Finance Minister Dilip Valse Patil will present the budget in the Assembly this afternoon.

Minister of State for Finance Dr. Sunil Deshmukh will table it in the Council.

The pre-budget survey has indicated that Maharashtra's growth rate in 2008-09 has fallen sharply to 6.7 per cent as against 9.2 per cent in the previous year.

The survey said 2008-09 witnessed heavy turmoil in the global economy, which impacted the Indian as well as the state's economy. (ANI)
