Lawyers protest against human rights violations in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 28 (ANI): A group of lawyers staged a protest against alleged human rights violations by security forces in Kashmir on Thursday.
Observed under the banner of the Kashmir Bar Association, the protest saw the agitating lawyers march through the streets of Srinagar, chanting slogans and demanding an end to the killings that are taking place in the valley.
"We want to register our protest against what is happening in Kashmir. People are being killed. We want to invite the attention of the world community towards these killings," said Mian Qayoom, President, Kashmir Bar Association.
Kashmir has witnessed numerous protests over alleged human rights violation in the valley.
The residents have often accused the security forces of killing innocent civilians in fake encounters, though India denies any systematic abuses in the region. (ANI)
