Peshawar, May 12 (ANI): Pakistan's volatile Swat region now has no media to report on the ongoing conflict between the Taliban and the Pakistani security forces.

"I have moved out of Swat with my family because working as a journalist is extremely difficult in the present situation," the Daily Times quoted TV journalist Shireenzada, as saying.

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered a military action against the Taliban on May 7. Until then, 22 registered journalists were working in Mingora for various national, international newspapers and TV channels.

Swat Press Club President Salahuddin Khan confirmed that all 22 journalists, registered with the club, had left the valley.

Thousands of residents were still stranded in Mingora.

Shireenzada said the trapped residents could face shortages of food and drinking water in absence of electricity.

The wounded and sick could not go to hospitals because of the curfew, he added. (ANI)
