Sufi Mohammad's son killed by shelling in Pakistan's Maidan area
Lower Dir (Pakistan), May 7 (ANI): Senior Pakistan Taliban leader Sufi Mohammad suffered a personal setback when his son Kifyatullah was killed in shelling during a security force operation in the Lower Dir's Maidan area.
The Dawn newspaper confirmed the news quoting Sufi Mohammad's family.
The news came even as intense clashes between the militants and security forces continued in Maidan. At least 15 troopers are reported missing in the district.
'I have been informed by the family of Maulana Sufi Mohammad that his son, Kifayatullah, has died and his brother-in-law is seriously injured,' the paper quoted the Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) spokesman, Amir Izzat Khan, as saying.
Sufi Mohammad, who is the chief of the Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi, has been calling for an end to the military operation in the area since it started and has also threatened to abandon the peace deal with the government besides making numerous objections to the implementation of the Nizam-i-Adl.
The Dawn stated it remains uncertain how the TNSM chief would react to the deal in the wake of his son's death. (ANI)
