Over 50pct Britons are suffering from 'computer rage'
London, Apr 1 (ANI): A new study has found that more than half of Britons are suffering from a condition that has been identified as "computer rage".
People suffering from it become so frustrated with their computer equipment that they tend to verbally or even physically attack the machines to vent their anger.
As per the research, 54 per cent of people have verbally assaulted their computers, while 40 per cent have resorted to physical violence.
When psychologists quizzed 126 British people on how often they 'lost it' with their equipment, they found that the majority experienced "computer rage" three or four times a month, and that more than 10 per cent exploded at least 10 times.
The cause for the anger against computers has been discovered to be linked to unsatisfactory work progress and time pressure.
Though it can lead to heavy damage of the equipment, experts believe that it is better for people's health if they vent their frustrations on them rather than bottling their anger inside.Although the study did not look at health factors, habitual, unrestrained expression of anger is known to be a significant cause of ill-health," the Telegraph quoted lead researcher John Charlton, from the University of Bolton, as saying.
"However, moderate outbursts of anger, in the form of shouting at a computer might actually be beneficial," he added.
The findings were presented at the British Psychological Society annual meeting in Brighton, West Sussex, on March 31. (ANI)
