Preity Zinta back with 'Videsh'
Mumbai, Mar 18 (ANI): Once among Bollywood's busiest actresses, Preity Zinta promoted her upcoming film 'Videsh' here last evening.
Deepa Mehta's 'Videsh', which opens this month, is Zinta's first major Bollywood release since 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom' in 2007.
In 'Videsh', Zinta plays a young woman from Punjab who travels to Canada to marry a man she has never met.
"In 'Videsh' my character is of a girl called Chand who is a middle educated class girl and goes to Canada after an arranged marriage. She has gone to live with a man and family who she has never met earlier. The film also talks about immigration. It talks about domestic violence," said Zinta.
She picked up an acting honour for her performance in the English version of the film - 'Heaven on Earth'-at the Chicago film festival last year.
"'Videsh', which in overseas is called 'Heaven on Earth', has been released in Canada and has done a good business there. So, I am crossing my fingers that people in India would also like the film," said Zinta.
Zinta, 34, also said she wasn't in competition with younger actresses for roles in the Hindi film industry. (ANI)
