President, Vice President greet people on Holi

New Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): President Pratibha Patil and Vice President Hamid Ansari today greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Holi, which is celebrated all over the country with traditional gaiety and zest.

In her message, Patil said, "I extend my greetings and good wishes to everyone.'

"Just like the myriad colours of Holi, our nation too is replete with diversity and let us learn to respect and protect the vibrant culture of our nation.

Let the celebrations this year also bring the young and the old together and the joyous festivities infuse in us, a sense of compassion for our fellow human beings in our life," she added

In his message, the Vice President said that the festive spirit of Holi transcends all social barriers and strengthens the social fabric.

He called upon the people to celebrate this festival and promote harmony, happiness and integration in the society.

Vice President said it is truly a national festival, which reinforces our unity amidst diversity through the joyful celebration of sprinkling of colours.
