London, March 5 (ANI): Send a text message to a Brit saying "CSThnknAU" and you may find him looking bewildered because the text slang means "can't stop thinking about you". Many Brits stand annoyed on receiving messages loaded with incomprehensible text-speak, according to a new study.

TTYL8R, CSThnknAU, ROTFL, TTFN - these are not signs being used by aliens for communication but some of the most despised text and e-mail phrases which drive Britons crazy!

According to Paul Cockerton, of the text question and answer service AQA 63336, weird acronyms used in modern slang left eight out of ten people confused.

The survey, which examined 2,400 adults, found that even the young generation, four out of ten, under the age of 24, struggled to understand the messages received.

While a staggering 76 per cent confessed to the use of abbreviations and text slang, 71 per cent would rather like better a normally composed text message.

"We understand that speed often comes first when sending messages, but clarity comes from the careful use of language," the Scotsman quoted Paul as saying.

"That's why, while most people can understand most text-speak, we never use it in our answers. Instead we pay careful attention to spelling, punctuation and grammar. It doesn't take much longer, and it's better for the recipient," he added.
