Melbourne, Mar 3 (ANI): Men are more likely to get distracted by the in-car GPS navigation devices than women, according to a new study.

In the survey involving 2500 Australian drivers, 17 per cent of male admitted to losing focus while using their GPS units in the car.

While just 12 percent women said they were distracted by the gadgets.

"For some men the temptation to fiddle and change settings on their GPS can be too great," News.com.au quoted Mike Sopinski, corporate affairs manager for car insurer AAMI, which conducted the survey, as saying.

Music systems, especially tape and CD players also pose a safety risk.

Nearly 42 per cent of drivers admitted being distracted while operating their tape deck, CD player or stereo.

And 12 per cent said they were distracted by their MP3 player.

"MP3 players, in particular, have the capacity to store thousands of songs and music videos, potentially tempting drivers to shuffle through or sort their music library when they should be concentrating on the road," Sopinski said. (ANI)
