Two drunken mates fined for nude bike ride!
Cairns, Mar 1 (ANI): Two drinking buddies have been fined 200 dollars and slammed as 'a pair of fools' after a nude bike ride through floodwaters.
Matthew Kean Fenn and Damien Mark Ingram pleaded guilty in Cairns Magistrate's Court to causing a public nuisance.
"It was basically drunken yobbo behaviour," Cairns.com.au quoted Magistrate Kerry McFadden, as saying.
The court heard Fenn had gone to Ingram's house at Freshwater to borrow a mulcher on February 7, then stayed on drinking into the night as torrential rain fell.
About 11.30pm, by then very drunk and saturated from being out in the downpour, the pair decided remove their wet clothes and cycle down to Freshwater Creek to check on the flood levels.
The 35-year-old mates were caught on Kamerunga Rd, by that time strewn with debris and more than 45cm under flowing water, by police who had also come through to check on the rising creek.
Police prosecutor Sgt Gordon Noble said that neither of the men had any lights on their bikes, and besides having no clothes on, were not wearing helmets.
"They had no reasonable excuse for their behaviour other than they were very drunk", Sgt Noble said. (ANI)
