11 Sabarimala pilgrims killed in bus mishap
Kottayam, Feb 17: Eleven pilgrims were killed, 40 injured and 20 serious in a bus accident when they were travelling to the Sabarimala hill shrine. The bus fell into a gorge near Erumeli town in Kottayam district in the wee hours on Tuesday, Feb 17.
The bus was carrying 60 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district and slipped into a 50-foot gorge while it was passing the narrow Pampa Valley road.
The locals rushed to the spot and took the injured persons to the Medical College Hospital in Kottayam and Taluk Hospital in Kanjirapally.
Solatium to the kins of the deceased has been announced by the Kerala Government.
