Chennai, Feb 4: Just a day after students in Tamil Nadu protested against Lankan crisis, over three lakh state govt employees have decided to back the state-wide bandh (closure) call given by the PMK, MDMK and CPI on Wednesday, Feb 4.

The thrust of humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka has made a large impact in Tamil Nadu. They are protesting against Sri Lankan army's assault over lakhs of Tamilian Sri Lankans."We are fighting for the cause of the Sri Lankan Tamils. The Sri Lankan government is promising safe passage to Tamilians but that is a wrong picture, It is the Sri Lankan army that is shooting and the people are fleeing from them," protestors claim.

The Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement, an umbrella organisation consisting of parties like the PMK, CPI and the MDMK have called for a bandh across the Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, Feb 4.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, Feb 3 had refused to stay the bandh saying the parties have a right to express their feelings. But, the ruling party in the state has opposed the bandh terming it against law. Normal life in Tamil Nadu will come to a standstill though public transport will function normally.
