Jailed paedophile files suit for not having toilet in cell
London, Jan 31 (ANI): A paedophile in the UK has filed a lawsuit against a prison claiming breach of his human rights because there is no toilet in his cell.
David Williams, 44, serving life for raping a 13-year-old boy, has claimed damages worth 5,000 pounds for a "substandard lifestyle that is endangering his physical and emotional health".In his High Court writ against Exeter jail, he has said that the lack of a toilet means he suffers "degrading and humiliating treatment."
Williams has also complained of not having hot and cold running water.
A charity that represents victims said that the claim made by Williams, who has a history of attacks against children as young as four, was disgraceful.
"The human rights of the victim are never taken into account. These offenders have been put behind bars because they chose to commit the crime," The Mirror quoted Ed Usher, of Victims' Voice, as saying.
East Devon MP Hugo Swire said: "I hope that very little time and certainly not too much money is spent on this clearly outrageous attempt to make a mockery of the criminal justice system."
The Ministry of Justice said: "No prison's sanitary arrangements breach human rights laws." (ANI)
