India provides 104 million dollars to Nepal as assistance

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): India has provided 104 million dollars as grant assistance to Nepal for upgradation of education and road infrastructure in three districts in the country.

The Embassy of India has already signed four separate Memorandum of Understanding (MOU's) with concerned district development committees and other beneficiary organisations .

The grant assistance is provided for construction of two new school buildings in Rupendehi and Lamjung districts and two roads in Rupendehi districts.

The Indian embassy in Kathmandu informed that the District Development committees, in consultation with Government of Nepal, requested for an urgent action on these issues.

The two new schools in Rupendehi district will tutor 1800 Nepali students, and the two road construction plans in linking rural areas to district centres will help over 1.7 million people in Lamjung district.

These projects are included in the 300 development projects under the India Nepal economic cooperation agreement in sectors like education, health, community development and infrastructure in Nepal, costing over 24 billions rupees. (ANI)
