Washington, Jan.16 (ANI): Pakistan's ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani has said that his country is itself a victim of terrorism like India.
Addressing a gathering of students and faculty members at the University of District of Columbia, Haqqani while mentioning about the Mumbai terror attacks said: "The important thing to remember is that Pakistan is a victim of terrorism as well as India."
Haqqani urged the leadership of both the countries to work in tandem to get rid of the worldwide menace of terrorism.
"We need to put the burden of history behind us, work together and make sure that both of us get rid of this terrorist menace that afflicts both of our countries," The News quoted, Haqqani, as saying.
"Both the South Asian countries need to move forward to have better relations for prosperity of their respective nations," he added.
He also said that Pakistan is facing a grim situation as it is going through a phase of transition from dictatorship to democracy.
Haqqani added that Pakistan has gone through more terrorist attacks now than seven years ago.
He however, criticized India for escalating the war tension after the November 2008 terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
