Parents warned against posting kids' holiday pics online to avoid child porn collection
Wellington, Jan 5 (ANI): Parents are being warned not to put holiday photographs of their kids on the Internet because they could end up in collections of child abuse images.
Lee Chisholm, a spokesperson for NetSafe, said that authorities have found holiday pics of kids, pulled off the Internet, in child porn collections.
Auckland psychologist Nathan Gaunt, an expert in online sex abuse and pornography, said that some men who view child abuse images are actively searching the Internet for 'child-next-door images'.
"There has definitely been huge interest in normal' images of children," The NZPA quoted Gault, as saying.
"There are people out there who do have an interest in school websites, or holiday snaps. These pictures are very real to people, so of course people who have a sexual interest in images of children find that quite interesting," he added.
Both the experts are now warning parents to think twice before putting any snaps of their kids on the Internet, particularly summertime shots where kids are naked or in swimming togs.
"But then again, pictures of children in school uniforms, [or] in just everyday clothing, can be attractive to some people," Gaunt said. (ANI)
