Nepal Army Chief says don't drag NA into controversy
Kathmandu, Jan 5 (ANI): The chief of the Nepal Army (NA) General Rookmangud Katawal has appealed to the people not to bring Nepal Army (NA) into controversy as it has always been above politics and fought for territorial integrity and national unity.
According to Kantipur, his appeal came in the wake of debate over the Nepal Army 's plan to recruit 2,884 personnel in vacant positions.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony of Nepal Army soldiers' basic training at the NA Training Centre here on Sunday, he said, " Nepal Army will never fall prey to enticements conspiracies and disputes. It will continue to fight against terrorism and extremism of all sorts."
He accused political parties of spreading rumours over the regular recruitment process in the Nepal Army.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Prachanda said that recruitment against peace pacts was unacceptable.
"Everyone should now understand that Nepal Army is an political organisation that follows the orders of a legitimate government," he said. (ANI)
