Top ten weirdest things found in UK pets' stomachs
London, Dec 30 (ANI): Kitchen knife, wig, and an underwear-these are some of the things that have made a list of the top ten weirdest items removed from the stomachs of UK pets.
The list made by an animal charity's vets has on its top a 10in tent peg, which made it to a pet's abdomen.
At the second place on the list, released by PDSA, are various Christmas decorations.
A kitchen knife eaten by mistake by a pet made it to the third spot in the list.
Rounding of at fourth and fifth place are fridge magnets and a man's wig respectively.
"There is a medical term for pets eating strange objects - pica. Dogs, especially puppies and younger dogs, use their mouth to investigate objects as well as to eat. Sometimes a dog will swallow an object by mistake, even though it had only meant to investigate it," The Scotsman quoted PDSA senior veterinary surgeon, Sean Wensley, as saying.
He added: "PDSA is urging pet owners to do a 'pet safety audit' of their homes to identify and remove any dangers."
