Pakistan postpones Army courses, fearing a war-like situation
Islamabad, Dec. 28 (ANI): In the wake of the rising tensions between India and Pakisan, various officers' training courses of the Pakistani army to be held for the first six months of 2009, have been postponed till further orders.
An army official was quoted by the news, as saying, "The courses for Army officers, scheduled to be conducted in the first half of the next year, have been deferred - apparently, in view of the growing Pakistan-India tension."
"No future plan has been unveiled yet and the courses have been postponed till further orders," he said, adding that a majority of the officers attending the ongoing programmes were going back to their respective regiments.
Analysts are considering this move to be an after-effect of Indian pressure.
"The step may have been taken in view of the increasing war hysteria. It has already been reported that the Indian warmongers are bent upon pushing the region to a conflict," an analyst said.
He also pointed-out, "The Rajasthan state government has reportedly declared a state of high alert in border areas, whose residents have been ordered to leave their homes."
He claimed that Indian army was supplying military hardware and ammunition to the Rajasthan. He added that the New Delhi had set different targets for their armed forces, directing them to home in on Karachi and the coastal areas of Sindh.
Another analyst concluded that abnormal Indian Air force activities were indicating towards a possible war, "580 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force will fly to their targets at once and another 110 jets will provide cover to them. Anyone having an iota of knowledge about defence affairs cannot believe in such things because this is quite impossible for any professional air force," he concluded.
Earlier, around 20,000 Pakistani soldiers were reportedly relocated to the India's Kasur and Sialkot frontiers from the tribal areas along the Pak-Afghan border. (ANI)
