London, December 23 (ANI): Bosses at the leading international legal firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have advised female lawyers to wear high heels with skirts rather than trousers to "embrace their femininity". Women working for the firm have also been warned against wearing necklaces as they could draw undue attention to the bustline.

The advices have come from the image consultants hired by the company to draw up the sartorial guidelines in a bid to smarten up staff.

According to reports, men employees under 5ft 9in are being advised against wearing ditch double-breasted suits in favour of a leaner single-breasted style.

Men are also being asked not to let their ties hang below their belts, as that may draw unwanted attention to their nether regions.

The image consultants are also said to have suggested that brown shoes and button-down shirts are frowned upon as "too casual".

Freshfields, which lists the Bank of England and Tesco as clients, has revealed that it has been offering the image course to staff for some time.

"It's basically a session on how to project a professional image within the workplace," the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for the firm as saying.

"It's advice rather than a list of do's and don'ts," he added.

As part of an induction programme for trainees, about 90 employees are said to have attended the makeover session in recent months.

As to why women might have been advised to wear heels, an image consultant, who used to be a lawyer, told the Daily Mail: "It helps them stand better and gives them height."

A Freshfields source said developing a 'Freshfields look' was aimed at making their staff stand out from the mass of anonymous grey lawyers that characterise the profession. (ANI)
