IMD Issues Yellow Alert As Sudden Weather Change Triggers Rain And Thunderstorms Across Delhi-NCR

A sudden change in weather brought much-needed relief to residents across Delhi-NCR on Thursday as clouds covered the sky and rain accompanied by strong winds lashed several areas, including parts of Noida and neighbouring regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for thunderstorms and rainfall across the national capital region, offering respite from the intense heat that had gripped the area over the past few days.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert for June 4 and 5

The weather department has issued a Yellow Alert for June 4 and June 5, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and light rainfall across Delhi-NCR. According to the IMD forecast, changing weather conditions are expected to continue over the next two days, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

The department said residents can expect relief from the scorching summer conditions as cloud cover and rain activity are likely to keep daytime temperatures under control.

Strong Winds and Rain Likely Throughout the Day

According to the IMD's local weather forecast, Delhi is expected to record a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Weather conditions are likely to remain unstable throughout the day.

The forecast indicates the possibility of light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning during the morning hours. Strong surface winds are also expected, with gusts reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour during the afternoon.

Rainfall activity may continue into the evening and night, with thunderstorms and lightning likely in several parts of the city.

Similar Weather Expected on June 5

The weather department has predicted similar conditions on June 5, with the maximum temperature expected to remain around 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 28 degrees Celsius.

Light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely during the day. Cloudy conditions are expected to persist during the night, with chances of lightning and scattered showers continuing across Delhi-NCR.

Due to these conditions, the IMD has maintained the Yellow Alert and advised residents to remain cautious, especially while outdoors during periods of strong winds and lightning activity.

Rain Chances Continue Till June 6, Clearer Skies From June 7

The IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius on June 6. Weather conditions are expected to remain favourable for "thunderstorm with rain" activity, although no special warning has been issued for the day.

By June 7, the weather is expected to improve, with relatively clearer skies likely across the region. Temperatures may rise slightly, with the maximum expected to touch 39 degrees Celsius while the minimum remains around 28 degrees Celsius.

The recent spell of rain and gusty winds has provided welcome relief to Delhi-NCR residents, who have been experiencing persistent high temperatures. Weather officials, however, continue to advise caution as thunderstorms and lightning remain a possibility over the coming days.
