PML-Q senator demands review of 'war on terror' policy by UN
Peshawar, Dec.20 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani has demanded review of the US led 'war on terror policy'.
He has asked the United Nations (UN) and the United States (US) to review the 'war on terror' policy, as it has fuelled terrorism in the region instead of eliminating it.
"The changing scenario demands a new policy for the region in consultation with Pakistan, Russia, China and Iran," The News quoted Durrani as saying.
"Pakistan should ask the International Security Assistance Force and ATO to withdraw from Afghanistan," he added.
Terming the eight year long battle of US in Afaghanistan as a failure,Durrani said: "the US-led coalition had failed to achieve the desired objectives despite their eight-year-long stay in Afghanistan."
Durrani requested the US President-elect Barack Obama to withdraw the allied forces from Afghanistan as is the case in Iraq.
"Efforts should be made to convince the new US president Barack Obama to pull out American forces from Afghanistan as was being done in the case of Iraq."
Durrani condemned US of destabilizing Pakistan by saying that the former is violating its Western border.
"US is bent upon bringing the Indian forces to Afghanistan, which would pose a severe threat to Pakistan," he said.
Durrani also urged the Pakistan authorities to start an aggressive diplomatic drive to stop the US drone attacks inside the country. (ANI)
