Winnie-the-Pooh drawings fetch more than œ1.2m at auction

London, Dec 18 (ANI): Original drawings featuring Winnie-The-Pooh and his friends sold for more than 1.2 million pounds at auction.

The drawings were a collection from artist EH Shepard, a Royal Academy-trained artist who died in 1976, but became famous for his Pooh illustrations as well as his work on The Wind in the Willows.

The top-selling lot, "He went on tracking, and Piglet . . . ran after him," described as one the artist's most iconic and best-loved illustrations, went for 115,250 pounds- more than double its pre-sale low estimate.

The previous record for a Shepard drawing was 110,000 pounds, reports Times Online.

Another drawing at the auction at Sotheby's in London, titled "Bump, bump, bump - going up the stairs" sold for 97,250 pounds - almost double its pre-sale low estimate. (ANI)
