Port worker threatens to jump from water tank
Kakinada, Nov 30(UNI) The row among workers unions over sharing of work in the deep-water port took a new twist today with one of the workers claiming himself as representative of the Beedupali marine fishermen multipurpose workers union, the oldest workers union, climbed over the overhead water tank behind the Government General Hospital here and threatened to jump to death, if the union was not given its due share in employment.
Police had a tough time in preventing Varipalli Satyanarayanaswamy, the worker, from taking the extreme step.
After a three-hour drama, the worker came down following assurance given by the Circle Inspector of Police K Ravikant to take up his cause.
He was, however, taken into custody by the police and a case was registered against him for attempting to commit suicide.
