US expert on South Asia dubs Mumbai attacks as India's "domestic issue"

New York, Nov 29 : A noted American political scientist and South Asia expert, Christine Fair has reportedly said that the Mumbai terror strikes were a domestic issue of India, and that no conclusions should be drawn in haste.

According to The News, he cautioned against rushing to blame anyone for the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

"This is a domestic issue. India's domestic problems and long tensions between local communities were at the root of the rise of terrorism in the country," the paper quoted him as saying.

Christine Fair works with the Rand Corporation, a US-based non-profit thinktank helping to improve policy and decision making through objective research and analysis.
