TN Govt asks people living downstream to move to safer places

Chennai, Nov 28 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government tonight asked people living downstream the Redhills reservoir (Puzhal Lake) to move out to safer places as it would be opened to release excess water.

An official release here said people living in areas down the reservoir in north Chennai should vacate their places and move to safer places as the water release would take place at 2100 hrs.

It said the water level in the reservoir stood at 19.16 ft against its capacity of 21.2 ft. The reservoir getting in inflow of 6000 cusecs, the release added.
