Sp cell of Delhi police file chargesheet against Salem, 3 others

New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) The special cell of Delhi police today filed chargesheet against underworld don Abu Salem and three other accused, in a case relating to threatening of a Delhi-based trader and extorting money from him six years ago.

The three other accused are Ishtiaq Ahmad, Sadiq Ali and Chandra Prakash. One accused Arun Yadav died during the trial.

Salem was today produced before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate(CMM) Kaveri Baweja. He is accused of demanding Rs one crore from a businessman Rajat Nagrath, based in East of Kailash.

The Mumbai police submitted before the court that he is facing trial in other cases in Mumbai and therefore, is presently required in Mumbai. On this, the CMM directed him to be taken to Mumbai on the condition that he would be produced before the Delhi court on December 12.

Salem has several cases pending against him all over India. Three are pending in Mumbai, including one related to 1992 bomb blast case in Mumbai, second Manisha Koirala's secretary Ajit Dewani murder case and the third related to the murder of Pradip Jain.

He is facing three cases of forged passports in Lucknow, Hyderabad and Bhopal.

In Delhi, he had three cases pending against him. Two are for extortion and one under the MCOCA.

The Government of Maharashtra and Delhi have decided to drop charges under the MCOCA as it was in violation of extradition treaty with Portugal.
