Bangkok airport seized by anti-govt protestors, thousands stranded

Bangkok, Nov 26 (UNI) Thousands of passengers remained stranded today at Bangkok's international airport which was seized last night by anti-government protestors who refused to leave till Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat resigns.

Passengers spent the night sleeping under check-in desks and on baggage conveyer belts as yellow-shirted cadres of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) refused to allow airport authorities to resume services.

Several foreign carriers have already cancelled flights to and from Bangkok following the chaos at Suvarnabhumi international airport in the Thai capital.

Incoming flights were being diverted to Bangkok's former international airport at Don Mueang.

Latest reports said some PAD cadres had entered the airport's control tower, said to be Asia's largest, and demanded the schedule of the Prime Minister's flight due to bring him back this evening from the APEC Summit in Peru.
