BJP accuses SDF govt of discrimination

Gangtok, Nov 24 (UNI) The Sikkim unit of the BJP today accused the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) government of adopting a discriminatory attitude towards the Centrally Non Backward Classes (CNBC) in the state.

The CNBC consists of Chettri, Bahun, Newar and other communities.

In a statement, BJP general secretary C B Chettri accused the SDF government of failing to send a proper recommendation to the Centre for inclusion of the above communities in the Central list of OBCs.

The above communities have been declared as OBCs in the state by the SDF government.

The BJP said reservation in education and jobs was most discriminatory towards these communities as they were given only 14 per cent reservation when their population was nearly 25 per cent.
