Tripura: Man kills daughter commits suicide

Agartala, Nov 20: A man killed his 13-year-old daughter before hanging himself at Amtali police station area. Police on Thursday, Nov 20 said one Gouranga Deb (35), a daily labourer, who was reportedly not psychologically sound, left home with his daughter Papiya Deb yesterday after lunch without informing anything to the other family members.

Later, police recovered two bodies from a nearby jungle and suspected that Gouranga had strangled Papiya with her dupatta (scarf), before hanging himself from a tree with the same dupatta.

Meanwhile, BSF personnel arrested two people from Boxanagar area of West Tripura near the Indo-Bangladesh border yesterday and recovered 10 kg Ganja and one mobile handset from their possession.

The arrested people, identified as Malin Hossain (28) and Bimal Das (23), were proceeding towards the Bangladesh border from Boxanagar side in a private car, police added.
