Change of government sign of mature democracy: Pranab

Jabalpur, Nov 19 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said change of state governments during assembly polls is a sign of mature democracy.

Mr Mukherjee, while talking to reporters here before addressing an election meeting in favour of Congress candidate from Jabalpur Cantonment assembly segment, said the Congress had won a few assembly elections and lost a few others after the UPA Government was formed at the Centre.

Justifying the approach of the party over the issue of regionalism raised by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, he said the Constitution provided every citizen right to live anywhere in the country.

Mr Mukherjee said the UPA Government was fulfilling the promises it made to people before elections and was working in the interest of the nation.

Referring to poll manifesto of the party released in Madhya Pradesh, he said a nuclear power house would be set up to resolve power crisis. On coming to power, the Congress will present report card before public every year to ensure transparency and put details of incomes of ministers and legislators on websites.
