Muslims responsible for hazy picture of Islam: Akbar

Patna, Nov 17 (UNI) Peeved over identifying terrorism with Muslims, renowned journalist M J Akbar today said ''Jehad'' had been misinterpreted by a section of Muslim who are resposnible for the hazy picture of Islam.

Delivering a lecture on '' Perception of Islam; Challenges before Muslims'' organised by Takshila education society, Mr Akbar referred to the misconceptions in the community about the interpretations of Islam.

''Islam is synonym of love and peace, '' he stated adding that Jehad was wrongly interpreted by none other than the Muslims themselves.

''Offence and violence have no place in Islam which never allow killing of innocent people just in the name of Jehad,'' he stressed adding Muslims have transformed Jehad into terrorism.

The terrorist organisations like Indian Mujahideen and others triggering violence should be dealt sternly not under the provisions of CrPC but according to the law mentioned in the holy Quran which clearly speaks about the punishments like beheading and sending in exile, he added.

Except Buddhism, every religion has a war doctrine and Jehad is also the same he said and co-related it with the ''preachings'' of Lord Krishna to Arjun in the battle field of Mahabharat.
