Salvation Movement chief arrested in Kashmir on the eve of polling
Srinagar, Nov 16 (UNI) Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (SM), a constituent of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC), Zaffar Akbar Bhat was today arrested from the uptown by police, official sources said.
They said former militant leader, Zaffar, was arrested from his office at Chanapora area of the uptown city.
Sources said he was to hold a meeting on Bandipora chalo, call for which was given by the Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the present agitation in the valley.
Bandipora goes to polls tomorrow.
A spokesman of the SM said six activists of the party were injured, when police resorted to baton charge to disperse them after they tried to stop police from arresting Zaffar.
