After much obstacles, Mahoba-Khajuraho rail route to be thrown open

Mahoba, Nov 14 (UNI) The world famous tourist spot of Khajuraho is finally on the map of the Railways and the first train on the new Mahoba-Khajuraho rail route would be given a green signal on November 17.

The set-up of the new rail route has brought smiles on the faces of the people, especially the tourists -- both national and international, who till now had only road and air routes as the mode of conveyance.

As per the Railway sources, the first train on the newly established route would depart from here at 0620 hrs on November 17.

Earlier, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad was expected to come at the inauguration ceremony, but as the process for Assembly election was underway in Madhya Pradesh, a simple ceremony would now be performed in his absence.

According to Railway department's PRO in Jhansi division Lalit Sharma, the over Rs 750 crore ambitious Mahoba-Khajuraho rail project would boost tourism in Bundelkhand.

A month ago, a team of senior Railway officials from Allahabad, Mumbai and Delhi had visited here and passed necessary directions in the regard after which the route got an okay.
