Self-help groups should be set up for welfare of villagers: Governor

Purulia, Nov 13 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi today exhorted the state Animal Husbandry department to set up self-help groups for the welfare of the villagers.

The Governor, who arrived here to inaugurate the 12th National Animal Husbandry Week, lauded the efforts of the state government to achieve self-sufficiency in food production.

State Animal Husbandry Minister Anisur Rahman, MP Basudeb Acharya and other senior officials were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Governor visited the Purulia Gurudwara and Ramkrishna Vidyapeeth on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
