Services hit in state-run hospitals over Doctors strike

Bangalore, Nov 12 (UNI) Services in Government hospitals were severely hit following an agitation by the doctors appointed on contract basis, pressing for acceptance of their charter of demands, which entered the third day in Karnataka today.

Following the agitation the state-run hospitals, including Victoria, Bowring and Vani Vilas in Bangalore, patients seeking treatment there were put to lot of inconvenience.

As many as 4000 doctors appointed on contract basis were on strike demanding better pay structure and working facilities.

Services in Emergency blocks and out patients ward were severely hit, according to Karnataka Medical Officers Association sources.

The Association has been holding talks with Karantaka Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda and Secretary, department of Health Services. But no solution has emerged so far, the sources said.
