NATO oil tanker snatched in southern Pakistan

Islamabad, Nov 12 (UNI) Unidentified armed men stole a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) oil tanker from the jurisdiction of the Memon Goth Police Station in the port city of Karachi.

The tanker, bearing the registration number TLJ-062, left form Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on Monday night and was on its way to Afghanistan yesterday.

When the tanker reached the link road of Magsi Goth, Superhighway, at least six armed men in a white colour Toyota Corolla car, with a police hooter, intercepted the tanker and stole it.

Akhtar Rehman, the owner and driver were in the tanker along with two tanker cleaners. Rehman told police that all three of them were beaten badly and thrown into the bushes.

The oil tanker was carrying almost 46 thousand litres of oil that was worth around Rs 3 million. The tanker was later found with no oil within the jurisdiction of the Shah Latif Police Station.

The police recovered Rs 0.1 million in cash in the tanker, however, two mobile phones were missing.
