Tele Atlas-SOI agreement gets centre nod
Pune, Nov 11 (UNI) The strategic agreement between the National Survey and Mapping Organisation Survey of India (SOI) and Tele Altas Kalyani India Limited has been formally approved by the centre.
Addressing mediapersons here this afternoon, Tele Atlas (Asia Pacific) Chief Operating officer Mark Steele and Maharashtra and Goa, Survey of India, Additional secretary Major General Mahendra said that with this agreement Tele Atals Kalyani India becomes the first Value added Reseller (VAR) of Indian's digital maps and custom map content with the public domain for commercial use in a range of navigation and location-based solutions in the mobile, internet, automotive, personal navigation system and enterprise.
Mr Steele further said this agreement will help to implement the National Map Policy and he is optmistic about the prospects of the growth of the Geospatial industry in India. Major Mahendra said this is the first agreement by Survey of India with any private partner.
He further said that under the new National Map Policy, the key elements is the Public Private Partnership, to enable objectives of the Map policy to provide, maintain and allow access to the National Topographic Database (NTDB), Major Mahendra said.
