Nature's Bounty in expansion mode, to diversify its spirit base
New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) Nature's Bounty and Allied Productions Pvt Ltd today announced that it was in advance stage of talks with major international brands for adding whisky, vodka, gin and beer to its kitty for sale in India.
The company's CEO A S Wadhwa told a news conference here that Nature's Bounty will make its plans public in the next three months.
''Talks are in an advanced stage and we will announce our proposals for expansion and diversification in the next three months,'' he said.
The company is a major seller of wines in India and seeing the rapid growth of the Rs 300 crore spirits market wants to capitalise on this so that emerges as a key player in the spirits market.
Meanwhile, the company announced the launch of two more brands -- 'German Nun' and South Africa's 'Kaya.' The two brands are produced by Germany-based 'Langguth Wine and Spirits.' The company is also planning to unveil 12-year single malt and 12-year blended scotch in the Indian market.
Dodging questions regarding the future investment plans and sales figure, Mr Wadhwa added:'' We want to balance our portfolio with old world and new world wines.
Nature's Bounty currently has about 24 variants under four brands in the wine segment and is in discussion with wine makers to introduce more brands to suit the upmarket Indian clients.
The Indian wine market is pegged to jump by a whopping 17- fold by 2011, a phenomenal growth as compared to any other segment of Indian industry.
