Minister booked for misbehaving with poll official
Dewas, (MP), Nov 10 (UNI) On the Election Commission's directive, police have registered a case against Madhya Pradesh Tourism Minister Tukoji Rao Puar for allegedly misbehaving with Returning Officer Sanjana Jain.
A case of interfering in government work and using abusive language was registered at Kotwali here last night on a complaint received from the office of the District Returning Officer, official sources said today.
On November 8, after scrutiny of nominations, Mr Puar allegedly pressurised the Returning Officer for rejecting the nomination of Congress candidate and former minister Sajjan Singh Verma.
Incensed over the officer's contention that Dr Verma's papers were found valid after going through the objections, the Minister allegedly threw some papers at the lady officer.
BJP candidate from Sonkutch Phool, Chand Varma, was also present at that time in the officer's chamber, but charge was framed against him, the sources said.
The Congress candidate also complained to the Commission against the minister and sought appropriate action.
