Festival of Gold 2008 to begin in Goa on Nov 28
Panaji, Nov 10 (UNI) ''Festival of Gold 2008'', the second edition of the jewellery show, organised by MMTC Limited, will begin on November 28 in Goa.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, MMTC Chief General Manager A Majumdar said the six day exhibition, supported by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and co-organized by the World Gold Council and Gitanjali Group, will give a unique opportunity to customers to purchase a variety of jewellary, medallions and silverware from a wide selection of over 50,000 pieces.
He said the jewellery on display has been tested for purity at BIS approved Assaying and Hallmarking centres. A market study on jewellery conducted by BIS indicated an average shortage of 13.51 per cent in purity from the declared purity across 16 towns in India. The shortage of purity in some cases was as high as 44.66 per cent, he said.
