Marxists reject US move to intervene in J
New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) The CPI(M) today said Jammu and Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and, therefore, there is no scope for third-party intervention.
Reacting to media reports on the move by US President-elect Barack Obama to appoint former President Bill Clinton as special envoy to resolve the J&K issue, party politburo member Sitaram Yechury said "Kashmir is a bilateral issue..... there is no scope for third party intervention".
"This is the stand of government of India and our party also holds the same view," he told the media in reply to a question.
Mr Obama's remarks on the issue during an interview in the run-up to his election in the US were seen to have caused concern in Indian quarters.
