Deranged youth jumps into mother's pyre, dies

Mangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) In a tragic incident a dejected the son of a woman, who died a few days ago, jumped into the pyre and ended his life in Dakshina Kannada district on November five.

In the incident police today learnt happened at Panja Koikude village the 35-year-old Madhava Udupa could not bear the bereavement of his 64-year-old mother who had died of illness.

Udupa was said to mentally unsound and undergoing treatment in Shimoga. He was brought here on Tuesday night to take part in the funeral rites.

After completing the rituals and lighting the pyre of his mother, the young man began returning from the spot, but one in a sudden rushed back and fell into the pyre. He died on the spot after suffering severe burns.
