Police personnel's body found outside Tata project boundary wall
Singur, Nov 06 (UNI) A police personnel's body was found outside the erstwhile Tata Motors small car project boundary wall at Harakalitala area beside National Highway two this morning.
Circle Inspector of Singur Debaprasad Pouranik said the body of Bidhan Patra (55), a sub-inspector in the Enforcement Branch of West Bengal Police, was found outside the project site.
The deceased, a resident of Khadra in Bankura district, was posted at Bhavani Bhavan in Kolkata and had arrived at Singur on duty yesterday.
Later, police arrived on the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. An investigation in this matter has been started.
In a separate incident, a gang of dacoits looted a police personnel's house at Bhagatipur village under Chanditala police station in Hooghly district late last night and seriously injured two persons.
Officer in-charge of Chanditala police station Parthasarathi Majumdar said about 10-12 armed miscreants attacked the house of Pradeep Sheet, a Kolkata Police personnel posted at the Burrabazar police station, and looted gold jewellery worth about Rs 50,000 and other valuables.
When the policeman and his mother tried to stop the miscreants, they attacked both of them with sharp weapons.
The police personnel and his mother were admitted to Uttarpara state general hospital in serious condition.
