'Paradigm shift in wealth creation due to fin'l crisis'

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) Speakers at the 36th national convention of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) today noted that there has been a paradigm shift in the creation of wealth in view of globalisation and financial crises resulting in a sea change in business, economic and social political environment the world over.

Speaking on the changing environment at Panaji, Goa Governor S S Sidhu said outdated attitudes and old work culture has made way for new perspectives, fresh ideas and progressive innovations in thinking, outlook and action, especially in the services sector.

Mr Dattaraj Salgaokar, Managing Director, V M Salgaocar group of companies, in his address said there has been a paradigm shift in the creation of wealth and asked Company Secretaries to not restrict themselves to compliances and corporate governance, but to venture in to new areas.

ICSI President Keyoor Bakshi discussed in detail about the new syllabus, training, templates, ICSI Vision Plan 2020 and Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Institute with Securities Investment Institute, UK, Financial Planning Standards Board, IGNOU and Chambers of Commerce.

Mr N K Jain, Secretary and CEO, ICSI, also spoke.

About 1,000 delegates are attending the event. Corporate Affairs Joint Secretary Jitesh Khosla addressed the special session on Companies Bill, 2008 and Limited Liability Partnership Bill at the meeting.
