Consumer court quashes PSEB's penalty to a consumer
Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 6 (UNI) District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum here has quashed decision of Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) of imposing Rs 51,270 penalty to a consumer.
A farmer Wajir Singh, a resident of village Hussanpur, Bassi Pathana has complained to Forum on June 19 this year and he has an electric connection for agriculture purpose and PSEB officials checked his premises on June 3, 2008.
The PSEB officials alleged that the consumer was found running 7.50 BHP motor from the starter at the wall after putting a joint cable and the consumer had committed theft of electric energy by running another motor by fixing a wire from the starter so notice of recovery of Rs 51,270 has been issued.
Signatures of one Jaspal Singh was on the checking report but the Forum observed in the order that the checking report is violation of electricity rules and recovery was illegal and it is a matter of deficiency of service.
